Families and Individuals

The government of Canada recognizes that it is during times like these that families and individuals are in need of extra support. For this reason, a number of benefits and programs have been put in place to lend a helping hand. Here is some information on a few of those resources:

Canada Recovery Benefit: The CRB gives income support to employed and self-employed individuals whose incomes are affected by COVID-19, and who are not entitled to Employment Insurance benefits. Those who are eligible can receive $1,000 for 2-week periods at a time.

Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit: The CRSB is a form of income support for employed and self-employed individuals who are unable to work because they are sick or need to self-isolate due to COVID-19, or have an underlying health condition that puts them at greater risk of getting COVID-19. Those who are eligible can receive $500 per week for periods for which they meet the requirements.

Canada Recovery Caregiver Benefit: The CRCB helps support individuals who are unable to work because they must care for their child under 12 years old or a family member who needs supervised care. This applies if their school, regular program, or facility is closed or unavailable to them due to COVID-19, or because they are sick, self-isolating, or at risk of serious health complications due to COVID-19. Households can receive $500 for each 1-week period they are eligible.

Canada Child Benefit: The government has recently implemented an increase of $1200 per year to the CCB for children under the age of six

Employment Insurance Benefit: The government has made temporary changes in the requirements for EI, to help support Canadians in need as much as possible. As of September 2020, the minimum weekly payment for those who are eligible is $500.
